The UP Manila Chorale

The UP Manila Chorale (UPMC) is the official performing group for choral music of the University of the Philippines – Manila (UP Manila), composed mainly of UP Manila students from various academic backgrounds with a shared love for singing.

The aim of UPMC is to produce excellent performances in order to uplift Filipino music and culture through choral music.

The UPMC has an established record of successful concerts and projects. Its extensive performing experience includes major concerts, benefit concerts, five European concert tours and performances for heads of state and dignitaries. The group is regularly invited to choral competitions, and it has garnered several awards locally and internationally.

In recent years the UPMC has performed major works and various compositions by Fauré, Mozart, Bruckner, Busto, Rutter, and Vivaldi. As an advocate of Filipino choral music, the UPMC has in their repertoire the music of Lucio San Pedro, Ryan Cayabyab, Joel Navarro, Felipe de Leon, Francisco Feliciano and Fidel Calalang. The group is presently led by their musical director, Nikos Ibarra R. Mante.

As of March 2010, the UP Manila Chorale ranks number 36 in the Musica Mundi World Ranking List - Top 50 Children's and Youth Choirs. Meanwhile, the group ranks number 206 in the Musica Mundi World Ranking List - Top 1000 Choirs.
